Один з двох буковинців на 41 Чемпіонаті Європи з карате WKF серед кадетів, юніорів та молоді 2014 р. добрався до зони боротьби за медалі.

 

Вихованець чернівецького спортклубу «Лідер» Валерій Чоботар у віковій номінації U-21 (вагова категорія до 78 ChobotarValeriy-sportbuk.comкг) зупинився за крок до п’єдесталу пошани, посівши підсумкове 5 місце. Чемпіоном тут став Актас Угур (Туреччина), срібним призером Алвін Каракі (Албанія), а бронзові нагороди здобули Жульєн Кафаро (Франція) та Емануель Сарнатаро (Італія).

Валерія Чоботаря тренують Андрій Лазаренко та Олександр Пікулін.

В експрес-коментарі SportBuk.com Андрій Лазоренко зауважив, що, мовляв, розуміє, що це непоганий результат, але дуже хотілось, аби Валерій зачепився за призове місце.

На звітному Євро-2014, який завершився 9.02.14 в Ліссабоні (Португалія), у складі збірної України виступав ще один чернівчанин Максим Юрчак («Дзаммай», Руслан Білоскурський) – у категорії понад 78 кг. На жаль, Максим не добрався до боротьби за провідні позиції.
