15-річний буковинський спортсмен-самбіст Ілля Паскарюк, у якого немає кисті правої руки, номінується на здобуття звання «Гордість країни» 2012 р.

Це проект Фонду Віктора Пінчука. У ньому беруть люди, які прославилися своєю мужністю у нестандартних життєвих ситуаціях або незвичайними вчинками. Ілля Паскарюк родом із села Мамалига на Новоселиччині. Через нещасний випадок він у шість років залишився без кисті правої руки. Та це не завадило мужньому хлопчикові продовжувати займатися дзюдо і самбо. Він став багаторазовим чемпіоном Буковини та України, призером численних національних та міжнародних турнірів.

– В історії хлопчика з Буковини Іллі Паскарюка мене вражає навіть не те, що він без кисті правої руки перемагає здорових суперників на турнірах по самбо, – сказав член Громадської ради всенародної акції «Гордість країни» співак Святослав ВАКАРЧУК. – Мене захоплює інший його вчинок. П’ятнадцятирічний підліток, вигравши в одному з телевізійних проектів сто тисяч гривень, поділився ними з людьми, які, на його думку, більше потребують цих грошей – кримчанкою Мариною Ходій, яка народилася без рук, і хлопчиком з чудовим голосом Андраніком Алексаняном. Неймовірний вчинок дитини! На таке не здатні чимало дорослих. Для мене Ілля став прикладом саме високих моральних якостей. Раніше переможцями проекту «Гордість країни» стали чернівчанки – рідні сестри Лідія Порфирюк і Марина Перебиковська. Молодша сестра віддала для порятунку старшій частину своєї печінки.
