Запланований у Кіцмані футбольний матч у новорічну ніч перенесли на наступний рік. Натомість вже 2 січня кіцманчани розпочали спортивний сезон-2011 – змаганнями з волейболу.

Незвичний футбол у новорічну ніч кіцманчани, за словами керівника районного спорту Ярослава Смеречанського, задумали ще декілька років тому:

– Неординарні змагання непогано сприяють пропаганді спорту, тому ми намагаємося час від часу запровадити якісь нестандартні спортивні заходи. Так, приміром, перегони-повзання серед малюків розтиражували по всій Україні. А футбол у новорічну ніч ми задумали ще раніше. Минулого разу дощ зіпсував наш задум. Цього разу сніг завадив (сміється – авт.). Насправді просто не вдалося поки що організувати те, що задумано. Але якщо в новорічну ніч німці бігли крос, голландці плавали, то чому ми не можемо у футбол зіграти. Будемо вважати, що перенесли на наступний Новий рік.

Натомість кіцманчани вже 2 січня провели перші змагання 2011 року – районний турнір з волейболу. Десять команд виборювали по 2 путівки до фіналу у двох підгрупах – у Кіцмані та Мамаїівцях. У районному центрі право виступити у фіналі вибороли Киселів і Шишківці, а у мамаївській школі – Кіцмань (викладачі) і Ставчани.

Фінальні змагання відбудуться у Кіцмані наступної неділі, 9 січня 2011 р.
