Заслужений майстер спорту України зі складання шахових композицій Михайло Марандюк з Новоселиці записав до свого активу ще дві нагороди світового гатунку – цього разу з олімпійським присмаком: буковинець виборов «золото» і «срібло» у турнірі ФІДЕ у рамках Всесвітньої шахової Олімпіади-2010.

Міжнародна шахова федерація (ФІДЕ) організувала під час Всесвітньої шахової Олімпіади, яка відбулася з 20 вересня по 4 жовтня 2010 р. у Ханти-Мансійську (Росія), Олімпійський турнір ФІДЕ зі складання шахових композицій, а точніше – задач  етюдів. Учасники змагалися у восьми розділах. Виступ шахових композиторів України виявився найкращим за всі роки – наші співвітчизники вперше вибороли одразу шість медалей, в т.ч. 3 золоті, 2 срібні і одну бронзову. Звісно, ці успіхи не обійшлися без участі лідера світового рейтингу у складанні шахових композицій Михайла Марандюка. І не лише тому, що цього року він обраний капітаном і граючим тренером збірної України. Михайло Назарович і сам здобув дві нагороди – «золото» у розділі багатоходівок і «срібло» у триходівках. Нагоодження відбулося згодом у Греції (на острові Кріт) в рамках 53 Міжнародного конгресу з шахової композиції, звідки п. Марандюк, як повідомив керівник «колосівського» спорту Новоселицького району Георгій Кирил, повернувся днями. Нагороди підписані президентом Міжнародної шахової федерації Кірсаном Ілюмжиновим.

Загалом, уродженець Маршинців Новоселицького району Михайло Марандюк на даний час є дев’ятиразовим чемпіоном світу зі складання шахових композицій (в т.ч. 5 разів він перемагав в особистих номінаціях).
