Кенійський учасник «Буковинської милі-2010» Даніель Чірійот Кіплімо після змагань затримався на день у Чернівцях, аби ознайомитися ближче з цим історичним містом, яке у нього асоціюється з титулованим бігуном Іваном Гешком, чиї перемоги над африканцями, звісно, не залишилися непоміченими і в Кенії. Організатори «Буковинської милі» (СК «Гешко», готель «Буковина», облмолодьспортуправління) влаштували кенійському бігуну екскурсію Чернівцями, а у «Льодовому майданчику» здійснили його мрію покататися на ковзанах.

Даніель зізнався, що приємно вражений як теплим прийомом, який йому влаштували у Чернівцях, так і красою міста. Назавжди залишаться в пам’яті і перші кроки на ковзанах, які гостю з Кенії допомогли зробити власник «Льодового майданчика» Павло Польовий та інструктор ковзанки. Кенієць також примірив форму «Чернівецьких пінгвінів» та випробував себе під час фотосесії в ролі хокеїста.

Даніель Чірійот Кіплімо, до речі, родом саме з того знаменитого селища, звідки практично всі найзірковіші кенійські бігуни, в т.ч. його сусід Даніель Комен Кіпчірчир, який фінішував другим після нашого Івана Гешка на Чемпіонаті світу 2006 р. у Москві.
