Переможницею конкурсу краси Міс Англія-2009 стала 20-річна легкоатлетка Рейчел Крісті.

На шляху до національного конкурсу краси Великобританії вона здобула корону Міс Лондон.

Цікаво, що Міс Англія походить із дуже титулованої спортивної сім’ї – її рідний вуйко Лінфорд Крісті вигравав «золото» на стометрівці на Олімпіаді-92. Батко теж подавав надії в легкій атлетиці, але трагічно загинув у 1996 році.

Рейчел почала займатися легкою атлетикою в 11 років. Тренується на стадіоні Західного Лондона, який названий на честь зіркового дядька. Красуня спеціалізується у семиборстві і мріє потрапити до олімпійської збірної, аби виступити на Іграх-2012 у Лондоні. За її словами, конкурс краси для неї – передусім, можливість виграти грошовий приз, аби фінансувати належним чином свою спортивну підготовку.

Ця перемога дуже багато для мене значить, – каже Рейчел Крісті. – Головною причиною, по якій я вирішила взяти участь у конкурсі, було те, що я хотіла довести лю.дям, особливо молоді, що ти можеш змінити своє життя. Ким би ти не був, ти можеш стати тим, ким хочеш. Треба тільки поставити перед собою цільі йти до неї!»
