Звання “Спортсмен року” одинадцятої загальнонаціональної програми “ЛЮДИНА РОКУ-2006” дісталося бронзовим призерам зимових Олімпійських ігор в Турині з фігурного катання (танці на льоду), срібним призерам чемпіонату Європи 2006 Ñ€. Олені Грушіній та Руслану Гончарову. Крім них, до самої церемонії нагородження, яка відбулася 17 березня у Палаці “Україна”, на цю премію претендували також чемпіон світу в приміщенні, срібний призер чемпіонату Європи та Кубку світу з бігу на 1500 м, володар Кубка світу в складі збірної Європи, кращий атлет Кубка Європи Іван Гешко та чемпіонка Європи з плавання на дистанції 100 м брасом Ганна Хлистунова.

– Свято було дуже гарним, – ділиться враженнями Іван Гешко. – Приємно номінуватися на таке високе звання. Я здогадувався, що переможцями будуть фігуристи – все-таки Олімпійські ігри Ñ” найпрестижнішими змаганнями, Ñ– Грушина з Гончаровим здобули там таку цінну для України “бронзу”. З ними я не спілкувався, але щиро вітаю з перемогою в нашій номінації. Номінантів також нагородили відповідними дипломами. Я, до речі, був не єдиним буковинцем на “Людині року-2006”. Наш оперний співак Мельник з Великого Кучурова (переможець телевізійного проекту “ШАНС” – авт.) виграв номінацію “Юний талант року”, а в концертній програмі, крім нього, зокрема, взяла участь Ñ– відома чернівецька співачка Катя Бужинська.

Залишається додати, що всього в номінації “Спортсмен року” експертами було названо в якості потенційних претендентів на отримання лауреатського звання 34 здобувача.
