Уперше Чернівці прийматимуть національні змагання з легкої атлетики. Відповідне рішення Федерація легкої атлетики України ухвалила за спільним клопотанням спортклубу «Гешко» та обласної федерації легкої атлетики.

 

Йдеться про Чемпіонат України з бігу на 1 милю, який відбудеться восени 2013 р. у рамках міжнародних змагань

У 2012 р. "Буковинську милю" виграв Олександр Борисюк

«Буковинська миля», які з 2005 р. входять до програми святкування Дня міста. Як відомо, «Буковинську милю» традиційно спільно проводять СК «Гешко» (під патронатом депутата міської ради Валерія Чинуша та головного партнера змагань – готелю «Буковина») та місцева влада.

Враховуючи те, що Чемпіонат України з бігу на 1 милю не проводиться, СК «Гешко» вже не раз пропонував ФЛАУ поєднати національні змагання з «Буковинською милею» (починаючи з 2008 р.). Як не дивно, коли федерацію очолював екс-чернівчанин Валерій Борзов це питання так і не вирішилось (хоча на відповідні клопотання й надходили позитивні відповіді, але далі справа не рухалась). А тепер, коли ФЛАУ очолив уродженець Одеси Ігор Гоцул, зусилля організаторів «Буковинської милі» отримали нове визнання.
