Другий рік поспіль чемпіоном України з тенісу стає чернівчанин Юрій Джавакян (офіційний партнер – Олег Гермак). У фіналі-2011 у Львові 1 жовтня вихованець Станіслава Сутяги та Леоніда Мельника переміг киянина Дмитра Іштуганова – 7:5, 3:6, 6:2.

 

Минулого рока Джавакян також зійшовся у фіналі з киянином, але Дмитром Мазуром, якого здолав 7:5, 7:5. Цього разу Джавакян і Мазур могли зустрітися у чвертьфіналі. Але Дмитро програв в 1/8 фіналу одеситу Олександру Белінському (турнірну сітку можна подивитися нижче).

Нагадємо, що вже дворазовий чемпіон України з тенісу Юрій Джавакян виріс у спортивній сім’ї – його батько Самвел свого часу був гравцем команди вищої ліги СРСР з хокею на траві «Університет» (Чернівці).

Почав займатися тенісом Юрій в 9 років в обласній ДЮСШ під керівництвом Наталії Вілігорської. З 12 років перейшов на систему спаринг-тренувань. Перед успішним сезоном-2010 майбутній чемпіон майже два роки мало тренувався і не їздив на змагання взагалі, бо не було фінансових можливостей. Тепер його підтримує фінансово Олег Гермак.

«Золото» Чемпіонату України не єдиний успіх Юрія Джавакяна на національній арені у сезоні-2011 – наприкінці серпня у Сімферополі він дійшов до фіналу Кубку України, де поступився сіяному під першим номером Олександру Недовєсову з Алушти.
