Абсолютним тріумфом на чемпіонаті України з легкої атлетики серед ветеранів у приміщенні відзначив свій 70-річний ювілей (18.02) та, відповідно, перехід до наступної вікової категорії викладач чернівецької спец. школи №3 Євген Гешко.

У Броварах наш невтомний ветеран став абсолютним чемпіоном України (за спеціальною системою очок), а також записав до свого активу п’ять золотих нагород та чотири ветеранські рекорди України! Ювіляр був найсильнішим у потрійному стрибку – 9,55 м (рекорд України), стрибках у довжину – 4,32 м (рекорд України), на дистанції 60 м – 8,60 сек. (рекорд України), на 60 м з/б – 11,08 (рекорд України) та у стрибках у висоту – 1 м 25 см.

З черговим феноменальним виступом на національних ветеранських змаганнях Гешка-старшого привітали перші особи області, а також його титулований родич Іван Гешко, який побажав кращому легкоатлету-ветерану України добратися і до європейських та світових вершин:

– Можна лише позаздрити по-доброму фізичній формі, в якій Євген Григорович перебуває у 70 років! Недарма він завжди підкреслює, що його біологічний вік коливається у межах 35-40 років. З такими феноменальними результатами йому, гадаю, обов’язково треба випробувати себе Ñ– на ветеранських чемпіонатах Європи та світу. Не сумніваюся, що знайдуться люди, які, за потреби, допоможуть багаторазовому рекордсмену України серед ветеранів поїхати на ці змагання.
